Chamber Chat, September 19, 2007

Tonight we look to our bright future at one of our forward thinking Sedro-Woolley companies: Janicki Industries.  The S-W Chamber and the Economic Development Association of Skagit County (EDASC) invite you on a tour featuring their innovative technology.  We will gather at building #4 and sample tasty hor d’oeuvres from Joy’s Sedro-Woolley Bakery and Café.  Please call the chamber at 855.1841 if you plan on attending this exciting event that runs from 5pm-7pm.

The new and improved Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce website was unveiled at our September membership luncheon to a rousing crowd of 65 people by Steam Interactive Creative Director Ken Davenport.  It is exciting as we use cutting edge technology to get the word out about Sedro-Woolley. Re-branding a product and idea takes a lot of hard work.  We have a fresh new logo that couples a modern S-W with a prominently placed hyphen, with the old style font of Sedro-Woolley. We are working on final details before it goes live!

We are lucky that world famous photographer Darius Kinsey located his studio here in town in the early 1900’s.  He spent many days out in the woods chronicling our rich logging history.  The wide scope of his work can be in many locations throughout the region and at the S-W Museum.  We are honoring Mr. Kinsey with the formation of the Kinsey Circle Membership Level.  This new opportunity will give your business a great deal of exposure.

One hundred and one visitors signed the guestbook Saturday September 8th at the S-W Museum as four generations of Fritch’s and Harrison’s gathered to be honored by the Founder’s Day committee for the significant contributions made by their descendants. It was wonderful to hear stories of the past as fresh faced kids clamored to see pictures of their relatives that were on display.

Approximately 350 cars participated in JJ’s Cruisers annual open car show at River Front Park in conjunction with Founder’s Day.  Dale Robertson was in his usual spot cooking the tasty hot dogs for the picnic put on by the Museum and the Chamber.  We are grateful to the following picnic sponsors:  Birchview, A Memory Care Community; Snelson Companies, Inc.; Food Services of America; Country Meadows, A Village Concept Retirement Community; Haggen Food & Pharmacy; Costco and North Coast Credit Union.  Thank you to Terry Belco, Irene Sytsma and other volunteers from North Coast Credit Union for all of their help.
