Chamber Chat, September 26 2007

Right around 200 people attended the Technology and Innovations Tour at Janicki Industries on Wednesday September 20th.   The S-W Chamber partnered with the Economic Development Association of Skagit County (EDASC) on this event.  It was amazing to see our Mission:  “Partnering with the Community to Promote Business,” and Vision: “Establish partnerships and communication with the City, Businesses, and the Community” statements in action. We look forward to working closely with EDASC in the future for events similar in nature showcasing our amazing community to the region.

We are working on the final details of our new and improved website before it goes live! It was unveiled at our September membership luncheon to a rousing crowd of 65 people by Steam Interactive Creative Director Ken Davenport.  It is exciting as we use cutting edge technology to get the word out about Sedro-Woolley. It has been amazing working on the re-branding of the chamber with not only Ken but also volunteers Pola Kelley and Connie Miller.  We have a fresh new logo that couples a modern S-W with a prominently placed hyphen, with the old style font of Sedro-Woolley.

We are lucky that world famous photographer Darius Kinsey located his studio here in town in the early 1900’s.  He spent many days out in the woods chronicling our rich logging history.  The wide scope of his work can be in many locations throughout the region and at the S-W Museum.  We are honoring Mr. Kinsey with the formation of the Kinsey Circle Membership Level.  This new opportunity will give your business a great deal of exposure.

One hundred and one visitors signed the guestbook at the S-W Museum during Founder’s Day as four generations of Fritch’s and Harrison’s gathered to be honored by the committee for the significant contributions made by their descendants. It was wonderful to hear stories of the past as fresh faced kids clamored to see pictures of their relatives that were on display.

Approximately 350 cars participated in JJ’s Cruisers annual open car show at River Front Park in conjunction with Founder’s Day.  Dale Robertson was in his usual spot cooking the tasty hot dogs for the picnic put on by the Museum and the Chamber.  We are grateful to the following picnic sponsors:  Birchview, A Memory Care Community; Snelson Companies, Inc.; Food Services of America; Country Meadows, A Village Concept Retirement Community; Haggen Food & Pharmacy; Costco and North Coast Credit Union.  Thank you to Terry Belco, Irene Sytsma and other volunteers from North Coast Credit Union for all of their help.

This is great news for all:  Hunting and Fishing Licenses are now available at Cascade Mtn. Loans!  Call Scott at 855.1920 for all the details.
