Director’s Corner
Just a note thanking Bellair Charters of Bellingham for a great Wine Fam Tour on August 11, 2009. The bus picked up guests in Mount Vernon, Burlington, and Sedro Woolley. We then headed upriver to Glacier Peak Winery just west of Marblemount. By the time we reached our destination, the last of the morning drizzle was gone and we found ourselves in a beautiful setting on a glorious day. Marin, our hostess treated us to a sampling of the local wines and some of those made from Eastern Washington grapes. I quickly decided that the Glacier Red was a perfect light table wine and bought a bottle. We traveled back west on Hwy 20 from there to Challenger Ridge where we divided into 2 groups, one touring while the other sampled wines, cheeses, & cracker. Our tourguide and wine server were fun, friendly and it was very informative. Finally, we arrived at Sedro-Woolley Chamber’s own member winery where we sampled Jim Perkins local wines his Madeline Angevine Reserve, and Madeline Angevine Siegriebbe. We chatted with Jim about his outdoor concert series, and our bus driver sampled the Skagit Fresh fruit drink developed by Jim and others in the valley. We do hope this develops into a recurring service in the valley. |
