A rich landscape, rural & open, the Skagit wilderness captivates the spirit from the wild coastline through the flourishing farmlands up to the boundless forest.
Our self-guided driving tour begins just 28 miles North of Seattle. We circle through the spectacular Cascade mountain range and embrace the vineyard-laden Columbia River Valley, glacier-fed Lake Chelan, and the Wild West territory of the Methow Valley. Refresh your sense of wonder in the North Cascades National Park, watching Orca whales play, or picking out your own produce from our fertile farmlands. Enjoy diverse terrain, wild natural areas, quaint towns with comfortable lodging, and stunning views all within the bounds of our incredible scenic byway.
The Port of Skagit leads efforts to build a strong economy in Skagit County while valuing the area’s natural assets and quality of life — Vision Statement adopted by the Port of Skagit Board of Commissioners, July 18, 2011
Governed by an elected board of three commissioners, The Port of Skagit serves as an economic development engine for Skagit County by concentrating on our mission, Good Jobs for Our Community. At the same time, we take care to provide transparent governance and excellent public service at minimal cost to the taxpayers in our district.
Conveniently located in Northwest Washington’s fertile Skagit (pronounced Skaa-Jit) Valley, found midway between the metropolitan areas of Seattle, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia, the Port of Skagit owns and operates three key facilities: the Skagit Regional Airport, the Bayview Business Park and the La Conner Marina. Combined, the port’s three facilities are home to more than 80 businesses that employ some 1,100 workers in sustainable household wage jobs, and we still have plenty of room to grow.
