Back to School

Back to school elicits a wide range of emotions in the minds of students and parents from fear to utter joy and excitement.  Yup, it is almost September and the beginning of school that for many signals the real start of the year.  Yes we have January 1st and fiscal calendars that start in July but the reality is when the kids enter those hallowed halls of learning things start to buzz normal.
We enjoy our partnership with the Sedro-Woolley School District.  We work together on projects throughout the year like Woodfest and the video documentary that is currently in the process of being produced by students of Steve McCartt.  Our board of directors always has a representative from the district to act as a link with educators, students and parents to bring our mission and vision to life.  They are respectively:  “Partnering with the community to promote business; and”Establish partnerships and communication with the City, Businesses and the Community.”
If you have kids, grandkids, friends with kids, nieces or in my case nephew’s in any school then you are part of the mission and vision.  It is important to nurture the relationship.  Here is what you can do to help:   Start shopping for goods and services at home.  Stop by the chamber office and get a copy of our business directory or one of the phone books we have available.  Then, pick up a brochure or two or visitor’s guide that is free to anyone and you will be armed with a wide range of information that will take you to where you need to go.  The bonus is you save gas and the stress of traveling out of town for stuff when it is available right here at home.
The benefits of doing this are many.  By supporting the business that pay the taxes that go to the schools where the above mentioned kids are educated you are doing your part to get as much money as possible to the schools to help the kids .  This makes it easier for the business owners and managers to return the favor and donate to all of our worthy causes that they do with such generosity and good will.
